Each year, Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club’s Copperhead course is host to the PGA TOUR's Transitions Championship, an official 72-hole event. Held in March, the event features 144 PGA TOUR golfers with proceeds from ticket sales benefiting Academy Prep and other area charities through the Championship's Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities program. The 2008 event was won by Sean O’Hair at 4 under par. PGA veteran Mark Calcavecchia was the one-shot winner in 2007, edging Heath Slocum and John Senden with a score of 10 under par. The 2008 Transitions Championship was the eighth PGA TOUR event held on the Copperhead course since 2000. K.J. Choi is the only two-time winner with victories in 2002 and 2006. Previous champions include Innisbrook member John Huston, Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh and Carl Pettersson. Previously, Innisbrook was host to 10 JCPenney Classic tournaments that featured mixed teams of PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour professionals. For ticket information please call (727) 942-5566.
