Founded more than 30 years ago by Innisbrook’s Director of Golf and former PGA TOUR and Champions TOUR player Jay Overton, and led by Director of Instruction Lew Smither III, the Innisbrook Golf Institute is ranked in the Top 25 of all golf schools nationally by Golf Magazine.

Focused on “back-to-basics” philosophies, our award-winning Tampa area golf school instructional staff works with each student on their mechanics and techniques – from short game to full swing – as well as offering an evaluation of equipment, golf ball evaluation/selection, proper stretching and strengthening exercises to develop a stronger golf swing and a better mental approach to the game.

Whether you’re looking to simply warm up prior to your round or trying to solve a nagging hook or slice, consider visiting the Highlands practice area, located near the Highlands Clubhouse. As a part of our Tampa area Golf school this 10-acre practice and instruction facility is available to guests prior to playing a round at the Island, Highlands North or Highlands South courses, and it also serves as the primary practice spot for players without a tee time.

The Highlands practice facility boasts 100% grass tees as well as putting, sand bunker and chipping areas. And, as part of our service standard, our Golf Club Services staff will ensure that your clubs will be awaiting your arrival whether it be at the practice tee or on the first tee. Complete Tampa area golf school, golf clinics, conducted by our professionals daily, are also available to all resort guests.
